Chapter 20 is composed of two sections (20:1-18 and 20:19-29). What is the climax of each section?

Each section of this passage is climaxed by an appearance of Jesus to his follower(s). In the first case to Mary Magdalene (after Peter and John had returned home) and second to all the disciples. In each of these cases there is a strong emotion present. Mary is weeping out of loss and sadness it seems. The apostles were in “lock-down” out of fear (not unreasonable) for their own safety. In each case Mary and Thomas believe, and in Thomas’s case affirming out loud, their recognition.
